Ridgerunner wanted to build something that didn't exist. An operating system for the outdoor industry. Like Shopify, but built specifically for outdoor sellers, retailers, and brands. A vendor could create an account and run their entire business without leaving: website, storefront, products, orders, invoicing, customers, everything. When they came to us, they had the vision and nothing else. No product, no brand, no platform. Just an idea.

Ridgerunner wanted to build something that didn't exist. An operating system for the outdoor industry. Like Shopify, but built specifically for outdoor sellers, retailers, and brands. A vendor could create an account and run their entire business without leaving: website, storefront, products, orders, invoicing, customers, everything. When they came to us, they had the vision and nothing else. No product, no brand, no platform. Just an idea.
Strategy
We started by getting everything out of their heads and into a structure we could build from. We mapped every audience that would use the platform: vendors, buyers, end customers, admins. Then we mapped the entire project in flows, identifying main screens first and every secondary action that would complete all possible interactions within the platform. By the end of this phase, a massive idea had become a systematic, executable plan.
Brand
They came to us with an older version of a logo and nothing else. We refreshed it and built an entire brand identity around it: colors, typography, design style. Then we extended it into investor presentations, pitch materials, and social media assets. What started as a logo refresh became a complete go-to-market brand that gave them the credibility to stand in front of investors and retail buyers.
Website
The website had two parts. First, the marketplace. A full e-commerce experience where vendors showcase products. We designed it from scratch: product catalog, product pages, collections, navigation covering thirty to forty categories, checkout, and customer accounts for order tracking and management. Second, the vendor-facing side. A landing page explaining the platform's value and funneling outdoor brands into registration and onboarding. Fully responsive across devices. We designed all of this but did not handle the website development.
Product
We started with navigation. Critical because the platform had dozens of sections and needed to feel simple despite massive complexity. Then we tackled onboarding, which was one of the biggest challenges. Different business types (LLC, sole proprietor, others) had different legal requirements, so each needed its own onboarding flow with specific questions and documentation. From there, we designed the complete platform: vendor and buyer dashboards, product management, catalog creation, pricing, discounts, order tracking, financial information, invoicing, and analytics. Everything a vendor would need to run their outdoor business in one coherent interface.
Development
Throughout the project, we worked closely with Ridgerunner's in-house dev team. When they needed frontend support, we stepped in for about two months, writing frontend code directly from our Figma files and handing it to their backend engineers. Beyond writing code, we made sure the final product matched what we designed. Every detail, every interaction, every screen.
Outcome
Ridgerunner launched at the biggest outdoor fishing event in the US, going from idea to market in four months. On launch day, 400 vendors signed up. The market response came across three vendor tiers: makers, established brands already on other platforms, and legacy brands with significant market share. After seeing the demo, 90% of prospects moved from polite interest to "how do I get on your platform." Ridgerunner also raised $2M in pre-seed funding.
